Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve, Big Sur Coastline
Monterey Co., CA – March 29, 2003

The limpet, Discurria insessa (formerly Notoacmea insessa) is an obligate grazer on the strap-like stipe of the feather boa kelp, Egregia menzeisii. Its lateral margins are parallel, unlike the more plastic limpet, Lottia pelta, which also can be found grazing on this kelp. (Links: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6)
