A worried visitor to the Steinhart Aquarium alerted staff that two hornsharks were having a "terrific fight" and someone should help avoid a tragedy, but the "fight"
turned out to be courtship and mating.

Pisaster giganteus is usually found subtidally in kelp forests,
and its populations were devastated by
the recent seastar wasting disease epidemic, so it was nice to see two of them again at this aquarium.
It can be distinguished from the other to members
of the genus (congeners) found in California by its blunt white spines, surrounded by blue.
