Garibaldi (Hypsypops rubicundus) is a member of the damselfish family (Pomacentridae), and in California is both protected and is the State Fish of California.

The threaded abalone is probably best considered a southern subspecies (Haliotis kamtschatkana assimilis) of the pinto abalone (Haliotis kamtschatkana kamtschatkana).
