In this session and those that follow, you will use the 5E's (engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate), a constructivist approach to learning.
At the end of this session you will know:
The nature of scientific processes
The value and limitations of scientific process
The scientist's use of terms such as fact, law, theory, and hypothesis
Hypotheses can be tested by inference as well as direct observations
How scientists choose the best solution using fair tests
Change is a constant in science; as we learn more through new observations and evidence, our understanding of the world changes
You will be able to:
Develop hypotheses from observations
Identify the kinds of evidence sufficient to reject or accept a hypothesis
Apply scientific processes in different situations
