Rooms
The Center can accommodate 75 individuals in dormitory style rooms holding two to twelve persons. Each room contains single, double or bunk beds with mattresses. There is also a multi-station kitchen, a bathhouse with hot showers, and indoor and outdoor eating areas. There are no camping facilities at the Center, however, camping is permitted in the Razor Open Area approximately four miles south of the facility, accessible from the Razor Road exit of I-15. Laboratory In addition to living accommodations, the Center maintains a laboratory for both individual and group use, a computer lab with both Macintosh and DOS machines, wireless network with satellite uplink, a modest library, and two classrooms, the largest of which can accommodate 60 persons. Kitchen Kitchen facilities include stoves, refrigerators, pots, pans and some related cookware. Food service at the Center is available in two ways: 1) The Center's caterer can provide full meal service. Price varies dependent on the needs of the group. 2) Individuals and groups can prepare their own meals but require a food handler's permit from the County of San Bernardino. Procedures for obtaining a permit are provided at the time of registration with the Desert Studies Secretary. Recreation Recreation facilities include a campfire circle, a basketball hoop, horseshoe pits, and a soaking pool. Accessibility Most facilities at the Center are wheelchair accessible.
