Plaque assay in tissue culture: M2 point mutations

1. MDCK cells were directly infected with the mutant viruses and wild type virus at an MOI of .0001 and 37 degrees celcius.

2. Yields of virus in the supernatant were determined at different times post infection via plaque assays.

 

Think: What do you expect to see?

  Answer You should at least expect the mutants that had ionic activity to grow just as well or very close to the wild-type virus.
