Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve, Big Sur Coastline
Monterey Co., CA – June 4, 2003

Lepidochitona thomasi is a small chiton that broods its embryos, about 12 mm mean length. These chitons were placed back on the rock to be photographed, but their habitat is similar but generally more cryptic. See here for description of Prof. Eernisse's research on this species, known only from the Big Sur coastline and Monterey Peninsula.)
