Welcome to SDMG

Bringing Scientists Together Since 1995

Established in 1995, The San Diego Microbiology Group exists with the goal of increasing interactions among local Southern Californian scientists that share common research interests. Monthly meetings usually take place on the third Wednesday of the month. Prestigious researchers from all across the United States, as well as other countries, routinely speak and share their work. In May, the SDMG holds a special all-day event that includes a conference by a keynote speaker alongside oral and poster presentations.

Schaechter Talk

Although most of the attendants reside in the San Diego area, meetings are open to everyone and anyone wanting to participate, and have steadily grown in size throughout the life of SDMG. Usually meetings begin with refreshments at 6:00 PM in the 4500 Hubbs Hall at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO). Two seminars follow at 6:30 PM in the 4500 Hubbs Hall. The first seminar goes from 6:30 PM to 6:50 PM and the second from 6:55 to 7:25.Everyone is welcome. Changes to the normal schedule are announced in the newsletter.

Please Note: parking on the SIO Campus for SDMG meetings requireds a valid SIO parking permit. A one-day parking permit can be purchased from John D. Trawick for $2.00. Click here for a map of SIO and driving directions.

Please contact Marcelo Tolmasky or John D. Trawick if you want to be included in the mailing list or receive detailed information prior to meetings, as sometimes there are last minute changes. Also register your name at the mailing list registration website. For now we recommend to register in the website and contact Marcelo Tolmasky or John D. Trawick to get all the information.
