This section is for notices of such items as long-term programs, classes
that repeat over several dates, and check-out packages from local groups.
The most recent items are now placed at the top of the list and are
no longer sorted by date or type (it took too long to do so).

Sea and Sage Audubon will be hosting a children's nature camp for Easter
Vacation at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary from April 17 to April 21.
The camp is open to children 6 - 12 years old (grades 1 through 6) and
there will be concurrent sessions for the younger and older children.
There will be a different activity featured each day: birds of prey,
insects, songbirds, bats, reptiles and amphibians. Activities will
include keeping a journal for the week, field sketching, microscopes, tracking,
etc. The adult to child ratio will be 1 to 6. Please call Audubon

The Sea and Sage Audubon BIRDATHON Teams are looking for SPONSORS.
This money goes to a good cause and sponsorship of a team or teams begins
at the bargain basement price of a penny a bird and goes up as your pocket
book dictates. Every cent counts. Sea and Sage shares their
donations with Audubon's Starr Ranch Audubon Sanctuary in Orange County.
The remaining funds are used to defray costs of the Chapter's ongoing projects,
educational activities and field trips. Leave a message for Bruce

On Wednesday, March 29, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dick Purvis will be presenting
a hands on workshop on building bird houses. Dick, Orange County's
expert on Western Bluebirds, has wonderful experience in this field .
The workshop will be held at the Duck Club at the San Joaquin Wildlife
Sanctuary. Call Audubon House at 949-261-7963 to sign up. The
fee is $l0.00 for the lecture, $15.00 for the lecture and your own birdhouse.
Bring your own hammer.

Throughout the month of April Sea and Sage Audubon will be sponsoring a
number of activities in association with BIRDATHON. These will include
owl banding and raptor banding field trips and field trips to little known
or infrequently visited locations in Orange County where annually occurring
but rarely seen high altitude birds can sometimes be found. Call
Audubon House between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to get dates, times, fees and sign
up to join in.

Sea and Sage Audubon is looking for Birdathon sponsors and participants.
Birdathon is Audubon's yearly fund raiser. If you would like to participate
on a team, participate as an individual or act as a sponsor call Audubon

On Wednesday, May 17 Sea and Sage Audubon will sponsor a Discover Bats
field trip at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary. The time is 1/2
hours before sunset. For information call Audubon House at 949-261-7963.
Educational Programs

Birding Courses. Sylvia Gallagher teaches birding courses in Huntington
Beach. Details are available from Audubon House (949-261-7963) or Sylvia

Birding Courses. Victor Leipzig teaches birding courses through
Irvine Valley College. Call Irvine Valley College (949-451-5220) or Vic

Bird Banding Courses. Starr Ranch Audubon Sanctuary (949-858-0309)
offers bird banding courses.

Slide Shows. Sea and Sage Audubon has just completed a slide show,
complete with speaker, that is available for civic and club and adult educational
events within the Orange County community and surrounding areas. For information
one should leave a message for Bruce Aird @ 949-261-7963.

Science Study Boxes. Sea and Sage Audubon has available "science"
study boxes that can be geared for students from K - 9. Each "science"
box covers a specific natural history topic such as amphibians, birds,
bats, insects, reptiles, etc. The boxes contain all materials to completely
cover the topic for classroom instruction including handouts, specimens,
reference books, bibliography and an instructor's manual for teaching that
topic. We ask for a deposit on the box that is refundable when it is returned.

Volunteers Needed. Sea & Sage Audubon Society seeks volunteers
to lead weekday tours for elementary school children at the San Joaquin
Wildlife Sanctuary, a freshwater marsh in Irvine. Call Trude Hurd at the
