Identification

• Large, flattened, slightly coiled ovoid shell
• Shell is dark green to black
• Can get as big as 30 cm in length, but they rarely get to be 13 cm
• Shell has a series of open and secondary closed holes
• This species has 5-7 open holes
• Different species can be differentiated by the number of holes
