Life within Macrocystis pyrifera

Life within the giant kelp is made up of a canopy, a middle layer and the bottom layer.  The canopy layer has the most light available to it.  There are also many juvenile fish that take shelter from much larger prey.  In the middle layer there is a decreased amount of light.  Some animals that may be found in here would be snails, anemones, red algae, bryozoans, and crabs.  Then in the bottom layer there would be even less light available to it.  Found here could be urchins, red algae, fish and crustaceans.
